FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS IN LYON
The Festival of Lights in Lyon goes back a long way. It is a tribute to the Virgin Mary to whom a church was dedicated on Fourvière Hill back in the twelfth century. In 1643, as the plague ravaged the whole of Europe, the city of Lyon was put under her protection.
